To Anita, Aaron, Leah & families: Our sincere sympathy to all of you. Keen was a very "special" person in so many respects. We have very fond memories of him. Who can forget when in his serious voice, comes to our camper door at 4 in the morning and ask, "I want to know what the deal is; are we going fishing or not?" God bless!

As a court reporter in District Court for several years, I had the opportunity to meet and work with Keen back in the '80s and '90s. He is someone I always enjoyed working with and looked forward to seeing when we worked in Scott City. Many prayers for Keen’s family. Wish I could be there Saturday to help pay tribute to a great man.

Anita, Aaron, Leah and families,
What a great man and friend I could ever have! You all have to know "getting old is not for sissies" and he fought a great fight!
Thanks for being in my life. Your Sunday calls were my weekly highlight. My memories of you will live on (especially picking up the Pepsi machine and shaking the can out)!!
Love forever,
Gary and Joyce Battles

I first met Keen in the fall of 1967, when we were both in SEAL Team 1, stationed in Coronado, California. I was assigned as a Platoon officer and Keen was assigned as my Asst. Platoon officer. In November our platoon of SEALS was sent to DaNang, Vietnam, to be in charge of the training and operations of what was called the Vietnamese “Sea Commandos.” Keen and I worked well together. We enjoyed each other’s company, always got along well, and had mutual respect. We also worked out together, challenging each other’s strength. I always enjoyed Keen’s many stories, and his soft-spoken voice. When we returned to the US we were given other assignments and eventually left the Navy to pursue different careers, Keen in Kansas and I in Illinois. Although we had only seen each other a few times since our Navy days, I always felt a deep connection with Keen. When we spoke to Anita, not too long ago, we were deeply saddened to learn of his dire condition. While on the phone, it sounded like someone picked up an extension and then I heard that soft low voice say, “Hi, Fred” and I was immediately transported back to the days we served together in Vietnam.

My memories of Keen go back a long way, but I have to credit the beginning of that relationship to the friendship he had with Betty and Vearl Eisenhour, LONG before I became an Eisenhour! Keen was special. He was fierce about all things he held dear - his upbringing in Scott City, his Navy career as an accomplished SEAL, his passion for the law, his beloved "Nita", Aaron and Leah, his daily walks with Don and Duane, coffee with the guys at Fousers, all things Scott City Beavers and R&R in the form of hunting and fishing. Those are the things I identify with Keen. I learned so much from him when I worked at WBS&G. I liked his orneriness, his wit and his winning record in the courtroom! I know some of those things faded as time marched on, but that's the Keen I choose to remember....him at his optimal best. I can still hear his gait coming down the hallway to grab another cup of very dark coffee. Anita, Aaron and Leah - I am so very sorry, on behalf of all Eisenhours, for your loss of Keen. His light and fire burn on in you. Hugs.

Our prayers for Keen and his family are ongoing. May Christ's presence be felt during this time of mourning for all who loved and cherished Keen. He was my friend, my counselor, and my confidant. I admired his skill as an attorney but most of all his skill in making others feel safe. I know we'll see Keen again.
In loving memory,
Art and Stephanie Gomez

I remember clearly the excitement as a grade school kid going with my parents to Herb & Wilma’s to travel to the Friday night SCHS football games to watch the team play which included Keen and my brother Lee. Of course there was always that thermos of hot chocolate that made watching them even more special. A huge shoutout to Keen for serving our country to preserve peace! What an icon he was to us all… Prayers to Anita Aaron and Leah.

So sorry to hear this. Keen was a great friend and my right hand man at Wheatland for years. So many stories were shared between us. "Nita", Leah and Aaron & families - I hope the good times you had together bring smiles and laughter and the tough times fade from your memories.
