I am a cousin of Wayde Berry, he and my dad were double cousins and Wayde was always one of my favorites. I remember that when I was smaller I always thought he was a tough guy and he was. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea and was truly part of that great generation, as I got older, I learned that his heart was a big as his courage and his toughness. I felt that we had a special bond, I always loved visiting with him and hearing my dad talk about things he and Wayde and all the brothers had gotten in to as kids. I will truly miss Wayde and sorry to not be able to attend the service, but I will remember him very fondly and send my sympathy to Charles, Benny, Darrell, Pam and the rest of the family. Uncle Wayde and Aunt Margie were two of my favorite people. Seeing their vehicle pull into the Berry Family Reunion was always one of the highlights of my summers growing up in Shawnee, OK. I would also get to spend a week at their house every summer during my teen years. I loved being there and watching all the chaos of their 4 kids. He was a strong man. I always thought of him as a tough guy. Although I haven’t seen him in years, I’ll miss the pictures that his grandkids posted after every family event. I’m so glad that he was able to spend his last years back in Scott City. Much love to Charles, Benny, Pam, and Darrell.
