Please share a memory of Sue to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sue Neufeld, 60, died quietly in her apartment in Garden City, KS the middle of the first week of June.  May she rest in God’s peace.

She was born on June 30, 1960, in Garden City, to Mary Lou and Clyde Stallsworth.  She was baptized and confirmed at First Methodist Church (now First United Methodist Church) in Garden City.

Truly a daughter of Garden City, Sue attended elementary school and middle school there.  Her years at Garden City High School were particularly eventful, as she hit the books, cheered for school teams, played the piano for choral groups, and maintained many friendships.

After graduating from GCHS, Sue continued her education at Garden City Community College, Southwestern College in KS, Fresno Pacific University in CA, and Multanomah University in OR.  She graduated from Multanomah.

Her marriage to Dan Neufeld was blessed with two daughters, Mary-Kay and Sarah.

After the marriage ended and personal challenges arose, Sue returned to Garden City to receive the loving support of parents and church, friends and professionals.  For years, she played the piano for First United Methodist Church each Saturday evening and the Holcomb Community Church each Sunday morning.  Besides playing hymns faster than they had ever been played, Sue enjoyed talking on her cellphone, listening to Christian radio, playing Solitaire, smiling after a Kansas State victory, sharing lunches with family and friends at local restaurants, and greeting with kindness every person she met.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary-Kay Neufeld of Abbotsford, BC, Canada, and Sarah Neufeld of Seattle, WA; two brothers, Bruce and Beth of Greenwood Village, CO, and Paul and Marsha of Wilson, NC; one uncle Richard and Terry Brantingham of Culver, IN; one niece Claire and Phill McNitt of Littleton, CO; and three nephews, Ryan Stallsworth of Abilene, TX, Matthew and Jackie Stallsworth of Charlotte, NC, and Peter Stallsworth of Wilmington, NC.
