Catherine Adele Amos, 102, passed to her heavenly home on February 15, 2021 from Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. Catherine was born May 28, 1918 in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Ward E. and Ethel M. Brown (Bradt). She graduated from Seneca High School and Stricklers Business College, Topeka, Kansas in 1937. She married William H. Amos on April 9, 1944; he preceded her in death on October 20, 2000.
Catherine was a resident of Garden City since 1948. She was a homemaker and Library Clerk Stenographer at Garden City Community College for 14 years, retiring in 1983. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and faithful to attend United Methodist Women’s Circle until her health prevented it. Catherine was a loyal volunteer at the Senior Center and St. Catherine’s Hospital Welcome Center and enjoyed serving others. Her family members remember her love for watching K-State basketball and doing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed reading and keeping current on news and politics.
Survivors include her son, John Amos (Debbie) of Garden City and daughter Karen DeWerff (Dale) of Augusta, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, niece Sheryl Janke and nephews Warren Janke (Regina) and Bruce Sutherland (Olga). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Ruth Janke and Jean Sutherland, and daughter Sandra Estabrook.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Services will be streamed live on Facebook at Price and Sons Funeral Home page (www.facebook.com/priceandsons) starting at 1:25 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Garden City Senior Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021 at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
