RIP Mr. Fairchild. I had you in High school as my History teacher and I didn't like History but you were a great teacher. Then I had the pleasure of helping you last year and you were still kind and so caring about everyone. You thanked everyone. It was such an honor to help you.Sending prayers to his family.

I loved History and his teaching. I really enjoyed the local history on Scott City to Russell Springs railroad.

Mr. Fairchild was one of my favorite teachers at SCHS. I always was assigned a seat in the front row because of alphabet, but was blessed to learn how important History was from his gifted teaching. Later when he moved back to Scott City,, we would run into him at the restaurant and we always had many enriching conversations. No matter how hard it got for him physically, he never gave up or even showed that it got him down. We sure will miss seeing him and hearing his adventures and stories. History will forever live in my heart because of his teaching skills. RIP Mr. Fairchild we were blessed to have known such a kind person as you.

Dean was one of my favorite customers when I waited tables at the Grillhouse. He used to come in and order a waffle, french toast or a blueberry pancake. I'd always butter them and cut them up for him and boy did he love his coffee. He was such a nice man.

I loved history class. Oh, the outlines. Mr. Fairchild was the king of outline notes. But, he knew we were wiring our brains by writing, something that is lost by school children today. I enjoyed visiting with him at Park Lane. I didn't see him often, but we still had such great memories to recollect as teacher/student. He was truly one of my very favorite teachers. RIP Mr. Fairchild.

Oh my, what a loss. Mr. Fairchild was the man who made me appreciate history. I loved his lectures where he brought life to our American heritage. His dry humor was fun, until directed at me! Ha ha. As an adult, I found him to be reflective, supportive of my efforts and a gentle spirit....a very good man. Nancy and Scott, thank you for being such an integral part of his life for years. He loved you, I know.... like we all do. Please know I share your sorrow and loss.
