Artie Pearl Dozier, age 84, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born December 20, 1924 in Richland, Missouri, the daughter of Norman and Nettie Rima Dailey. A resident of Garden City since moving from Denver, Colorado in 1998, she was a homemaker and an expert quilter and seamstress. Artie was an All-Star Volunteer at Garden Valley Retirement Village, and the residents will remember her for her exquisite quilting and needlework, crafts, and singing for chapel services. She also enjoyed table decorating, flower arranging, hymn sing-a-longs, Bible study, afternoon teas, and reading to residents in nursing care. Artie loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and she wanted her gifts to be used to glorify the Lord. On July 13, 1947, Artie married Homer Dozier in Denver, Colorado. He died February 10, 2006 in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors include her three Daughters - Ruth Ann Branham of Waynesville, Missouri, Mary Beth Doty of Garden City, Kansas, and Susan Jean Pagel of Battle Ground, Washington; One Grandson - Jonathan David Branham of Seattle, Washington; Four Granddaughters - Angela Joy Branham Bell of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Noelle Christine Doty of Garden City, Kansas, Trisha Rose Doty of Garden City, Kansas, and Victoria Joy Doty of Garden City, Kansas. Artie was preceded in death by her parents, all four of her siblings, and her husband. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas with Revs. Tim Davis and Terry Major presiding. Inurnment will be held in the Moore Cemetery in Nevada, Missouri. Friends may sign the register book at the funeral home Monday through Thursday during normal business hours. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Garden Valley Retirement Village or to Cadence International, both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
