Dear Dee, Whitney, Christopher, and Jay’s family.
Jay’s death is heartbreaking. I was always a fan of his rebel spirit, mischievousness, wry smile. And his Big Heart. At Dee and Jay’s home, I had a long talk with him in 2015. He said some wise things that struck an emotional chord. I send you all my love for your mountainous loss. The video and music were beautiful -- to see the Everetts decade by decade with John and Lilabeth at the center.
Much Love,
Shauna

Many people that grew up in Scott City will remember Jay. I know I will. Always nice, fun and at the skating rink or the bowling alley. Always had a smile for me. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

My daughter shared with me the solid words of encouragement that Jay always spoke to her. She said in all of the stupid mistakes she made Jay would tell her that there is alway a way out. I realized the love she had for him as she spoke so sincerely and appreciatively of the forgiving relationship she knew she had with him and the grief and loss she was feeling. That made me realize the closeness my daughter had to him and the bond. I am thankful for the consolation, love, and support Jay offered her.
He apparently served his earthly purpose and now reaps his reward. I pray that family and freinds feel comfort, joy, strength and peace in the days and years ahead as we remember and talk of the life we shared with Jay.

Sorry to hear about Jay. As a classmate and friend Jay was always making time for you and would lend an ear when needed. Although I have not kept in touch with him for many years I still thought of the good time we shared growing up in Scott. All the parties and road trips in his Dodge Van. Wow !!! He was a person that made anyone that was blessed with his friendship a better person, his personality was un-matched. My condolences to all Jay's family and friends, the world lost a very good person.

I want to extend my sincerest sympathy to the family. I worked with Jay at the bowling ally while I was in High School and it was never a dull moment with him around. He was one of the most genuine guy's I have ever met. May you all know that we are praying for comfort and peace in the coming weeks as you walk through this transition. God's love never fails so lean on him.
God Bless

Jay was a close friend to both the McDaniel and Berry families when I was growing up. I can’t remember a time when he was not a part of my life. From the time he was bringing candy to my sisters and I when we were little girls, coming thru the drive up to say hi, to the random phone calls to check up and see how the family was doing. I will miss those phone calls greatly. He was a part of my growing up...a part of those roots that shaped me. He was our JayBird and I will always have a special place in my heart for him.

My name is Kim Staack, I work at the scale for Kerford Limestone Co. in Weeping Water Nebraska, I just wanted to say how very sorry I am to hear about Jay, he was one of the Good ones! He always had a smile on his face. I would talk to him through the scale shoot and after telling him "good morning Jay" he would always reply "and a very good morning to you too!" or afternoon or evening, whatever the case may be! He will surely be missed by many! sending my condolences
