Leon Jones, Sr. age 92, passed away on Monday February 26, 2018 at Denver, Colorado.  Mr. Jones was born August 20, 1925 in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of Henry & Estella ( Green ) Jones.  He had been a resident of Tribune, Kansas from 1950 until his retirement as a Foreman for Union Pacific Railroad in 1985, moving to Denver in 1986.

 

Mr. Jones served his country in the United States Navy during World War Two.

He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Tribune, Kansas, and   currently held membership at The Potters House and the Masonic Lodge # 27, Daniel Chappie James Chapter, both in Denver, Colorado.

 

On May 3, 1945 he married Bessie Lee Wilson at Shreveport, Louisiana.

24 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren

Three Children, Leon, Jones, Jr., Henry Jones and Shirley Jones and 4 brothers including Audrey, Leroy, Charlie & James Jones and 2 sisters including Gloria & Hazel Jones precede him in death.

 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm (MDT) Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail from Colorado Springs, Colorado

 

Memorial may be given to the Alzheimer’s Research Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO 301, Tribune, Kansas
