Obituary of Larry Luke Haverfield

Larry Luke Haverfield, age 77, passed away on Sunday, September 21, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas. Larry was born November 20, 1936 at Scott City, Kansas, the son of John R. & Edith A. Luke Haverfield. Larry graduated from Scott Community High School in Scott City, Kansas in 1954. A rancher, wildlife conservationist and a lifetime resident of western Kansas, he was an avid reader and enjoyed following sports. Larry was a member of Audubon of Kansas and Defenders of Wildlife. On May 19, 1954 he married Bette Talbott in Dalhart, Texas. Larry’s surviving family include- His Wife- Elizabeth (Bette)Haverfield- Russell Springs, Kansas Five children- Nancy & Rick Parkhurst- Kerrville, Texas Cathy & R.W. Lucas- Sublette, Kansas Calvin & Lillie Haverfield- Russell Springs, Kansas Dawn & Doug McKinney- Leoti, Kansas Jay & Joy Haverfield- Colby, Kansas A sister- Ruth Ann & Charles Burtner- Scottsdale, Arizona A niece- Erica & Collin Anderson Wheeling, Illinois A nephew- David & Seetha Burtner Belmont, Massachusetts Fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren His parents preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 26, 2014 at Carwood Community Church (formerly Parks Presbyterian Church) in northwest Wichita County, Kansas with the Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Burial will be in Carwood Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 8:00 pm Wednesday and from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Audubon of Kansas, the Defenders of Wildlife Conservation or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
