Obituary of Melvin Giesick

Melvin Eugene Giesick, age 79, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital in Castle Rock, Colorado. Mel was born October 6, 1933 at Leoti, Kansas, the son of Samuel & Eva Bohl Giesick. He had recently moved to Castle Rock with their primary residence still in Leoti , Kansas since 1984 moving from Burlington, Iowa. He was the owner and operator of Mel's Foodliner in Leoti, Kansas. Mel served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer First Class. On August 16, 1959 he married Rilla Kay Miller at Tribune, Kansas. Mel's surviving family includes- His wife Rilla Giesick- Castle Rock, Colorado Three children- Darren & Mary Beth Giesick- Parker, Colorado Shannon & Stacia Giesick- Castle Rock, Colorado Tember & Bill Rector- Castle Rock, Colorado Three grandchildren Brittany Giesick Englewood, Colorado Brailey Giesick- Englewood, Colorado Dalton Giesick- Castle Rock, Colorado One great grandchild- Raiden Giesick- Englewood, Colorado His parents, a grandson, Dayton Giesick and three brothers, Robert Giesick, Karl Giesick and Earl Giesick precede him in death. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, September 21, 2013 at The Christ Covenant Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday and from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Christ Covenant Church in care of the funeral home.
