Obituary of Harold Wewer

Harold Eugene Wewer, age 82, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Harold was born February 23, 1929 in Leoti, Kansas, the son of Joseph A. & Mary A. Kissinger Wewer. A 1947 graduate of Wichita County High School, Harold served in the United States Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He was formerly the Wichita County Courthouse custodian and owner/operator of Wewer Liquor store retiring in 2006.
Harold was active in the Leoti community serving with the Wichita County Volunteer Fire Department, as a school bus driver and selling fireworks with his family. A charter member of the Wichita County Municipal Golf Course he also enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping and coaching Little League baseball as well as spending time with his family.
On December 26, 1950 he married Dolores June Bloedorn at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas.
Harold's surviving family includes- Wife- Dolores J. Wewer- Leoti, Kansas Four children- Gary & Nina Wewer- Leoti, Kansas Lynn & Steve Bennett- Garden City, Kansas Debra & Michael Rains- Cheraw, Colorado Randy & Paula Wewer- Manhattan, Kansas A brother- Larry & Dorothy Wewer- Wichita, Kansas A sister- Donna Gaschler- Modoc, Kansas Nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His parents, a brother, Monte Wewer and a sister, Wanda Bauers, preceded Harold in death.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Paul McNall officiating and with Military Honors provided by the Funeral Honors Detail from Fort Riley, Kansas. Inurnment will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas.
There will be no calling times.
Memorials may be given to the Leoti E.M.T.'s or Wichita County Long Term Care in Care of Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
