CLINTON R. UPCHURCH, AGE 31, DIED SATURDAY, JAN. 7, 2006 WHILE FAITHFULLY SERVING HIS COUNTRY DURING THE IRAQI WAR. HE WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 21, 1974 AT GARDEN CITY, KS THE SON OF GREG V. AND CINDY M. KYLE UPCHURCH. HE GRADUATED FROM GARDEN CITY HIGH SCHOOL IN 1993 AND FROM GARDEN CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN 2004. HE HAD BEEN A DEPUTY SHERIFF FOR THE FINNEY COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE FOR SEVEN YEARS PRIOR TO JOING THE UNITED STATES ARMY WHERE HE WAS AN MP FOR THE 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION AIR ASSAULT TEAM. HE HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF GARDEN CITY FOR MOST OF HIS LIFE MOVING TO FORT CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY IN JANUARY OF 2005.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF WORD OF LIFE CHURCH OF GARDEN CITY,
ON MARCH 3, 2001, HE MARRIED KARRI STEWART AT GARDEN CITY, KANSAS. SHE SURVIVES.
OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE: 3 STEP-SONS, RYAN STEWART - STATIONED IN KUWAIT, EARL STEWART AND PATRICK NICKS BOTH OF THE HOME. HIS PARENTS, GREG & CINDY UPCHURCH OF GARDEN CITY, KANSAS. 1 BROTHER, JOHN PAUL UPCHURCH OF ST. LOUIS, MO. 1 SISTER , MISTY DAWN UPCHURCH OF WICHITA, KANSAS. HIS GRANDMOTHERS, IOLA UPCHURCH OF HOLCOMB, KANSAS AND JEANNETTE KYLE OF GARDEN CITY, KANSAS AND HIS GREAT GRANDMOTHER, BESSIE HINES OF KANSAS CITY, KANSAS. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A NIECE, ALYSSA BEARD AND HIS GRANDFATHERS.
BURIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD @ 10:00AM ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 18TH IN THE ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY IN ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA.
MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD @ 2:00PM ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 2006 @ THE WORD OF LIFE CHURCH IN GARDEN CITY, KANSAS WITH PASTORS LENOIR NEWMAN AND JEFF CRIST PRESIDING.
ADDITIONAL MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2006 @ FORT CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY.
THERE WILL BE NO LOCAL CALLING TIMES.
THE FAMILY REQUESTS THAT IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIALS BE GIVEN TO THE CLINTON UPCHURCH MEMORIAL FUND IN CARE OF PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME.
