JoEllen Tarpley, beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, was born on January 5, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas where she was raised. She then lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she raised her family. The past ten years she has lived in Phoenix, Arizona. As of June 3, 2009, Jo Ellen resides peacefully in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She joins her Mom and Dad, Vera Mae and John Wampler, Aunt Vivian Kennedy (Aunt Babe) and best friend Clara Czeschin.
JoEllen Graduated from Garden City High School, Class 1964, and went on to receive her degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University.
On June 4, 1967 she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Larry Tarpley.
She taught childhood education then later became a professional cake decorator at Kirschener's Bakery in Colorado Springs.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. She was profoundly grounded in her faith and the rock of her family. The Holy Spirit shown through her so brightly that throughout her journey she deeply touched so many hearts with kindness, even in her most challenging of times. We rejoice and glorify God for her life with us and for her eternal comfort in His Kingdom.
JoEllen is survived by her husband Larry, Son Casey, Daughter Jenna, Son-in-Law Jeff and five grandchildren Rikki, Brenden, Tyler, Jett and Kaden, all of Arizona.
Private services were held in Phoenix, Arizona.
Burial, with graveside service, will be in Garden City, Kansas at Valley View Cemetery at 11:30 A.M. Monday, June 22nd.
