Edward F. Stebens, age 71, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born July 24, 1937 in Garden City, Kansas the son of William and Gertrude Doefler Stebens. He attended Garden City High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. After being discharged, he returned to Garden City where he was a master plumber in the area, later becoming the owner and operator of Me Fix It Plumbing retiring in 1998.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a Third Degree Knight with the Knights Of Columbus. He also belonged to the Vietnam Veterans and he was a lifetime member of the VFW all of Garden City, Kansas.
On November 26, 1966 he married Janice Maureen Webb @ Garden City, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include: Three Daughters, Angela Hartley of Garden City, Kansas, Brenda Curtis of Garden City, Kansas and Cynthia Baker of Wichita, Kansas; One Brother, Willard Stebens of Fresno, California; Four Sisters, Mary Brocker of San Angelo, Texas, Dorothy Komlofske of Garden City, Kansas, Jane Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Joan Washam of Pallyup, Washington; Five Grandchildren, Marcus & Matthew Baker, Taylor & Megan Hartley and Levi Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Two Brothers, Harold & James Stebens and Four Sisters, Lena Irsik, Milley Glover, Lola Stoppel and Gertrude McCullough.
Vigil and Rosary services will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Trong Tran presiding.
Friends may call from 10:00am until 8:00pm on Thursday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Interment will be in the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas.
The family requests memorials be given to the Edward Stebens Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
