Ann always had a smile on her face, an enthusiasm for life and was willing to give of herself to others. I remember her willingness to volunteer for countless assignments as a board member with the National Association for Rural Mental Health. So much so that saying ânoâ was not in her makeup when it came to things she believed in. Her contributions were respected by her fellow board members as evidence of her election to NARMH leadership positions of Secretary and later President-Elect. We should remember Ann for what she gave all of us and the way she lived her life. As a colleague and more importantly as a friend I will miss her.

I worked with Ann for several years at Youthville. She was always a supporter of not only the kids in care but all of the staff also. We had the same supervisor and occasionally we would go away for a retreat. She had a sense of humor, a love of life, and optimism for the future. She brightened all of our lives. I was always impressed with Ann's devotion to her God, her family, her work, and to the children of Kansas. What a loss for so many.

Ann was one of the most caring people I have ever known. We have been colleagues and friends for over a decade, and in that time I never heard her speak a negative word about another person. She lived a life of caring for others, trying her best to reach out and help up. May she be at peace in Christ's embrace, and may her caring love for others be remembered in tribute. I will miss her friendship very much.

Mrs. Schumacher was our school counselor during the last part of my high school years at Scott Community High School. She was a wonderful person and very easy to talk to. She took the time to talk to you in the hallway and she always had an open door policy. My heart goes out to her children and family. She will be missed by many people who's lives she touched. Including mine.
