Edith Elisabeth Schmidt, age 81, passed away at Greeley County Medical Center on Saturday, January 31, 2009. Edith was born November 24, 1927 at Girard, Kansas the daughter of George Baird & Edith Myra Pierce Mathews. She was a homemaker and educator and had been a Greeley County resident since 1929.
Edith was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tribune, Kansas as well as the American Legion auxiliary, Greeley County Historical Society, and a 50 year member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and Greeley County Home Extension Unit.
On December 25, 1948 she married Dwayne Corgell Schmidt in Tribune, Kansas. He passed away on October 4, 2002 at Tribune, Kansas.
Edith surviving family include- One son and his wife Steve & Debbie Schmidt- Tribune, Kansas One daughter and her husband Cheryl Ann & Randall Graham- Fort Worth, Texas Seven Grandchildren and their spouses Kelly Gail & Debbie Harris- Elbert, Colorado Tina Marie & Ty Elias- McCracken, Kansas Jarrod Alwyn Schmidt- Hays, Kansas Andrew & Missy Graham- Arlington, Texas Anne Elisabeth Graham- Fort Worth, Texas Ariel Elise Graham- " Alison Elissa Graham- Houston, Texas Eight Great Grandchildren- Taytum Anne Graham- Arlington, Texas Graycee J.L. Graham- " Kayden Andrew Graham- " Quintin Trace Harris-Elias- McCracken, Kansas Andrew Christopher Harris- Elbert, Colorado Katherine Nycole Harris- " Alexandrea Renee Harris " Kylee Gail Harris- " Numerous nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John R. Mathews, James D. Mathews & George B. Mathews, Jr. and one sister, Virginia Lee Mathews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. (M.D.T.), Friday, February 6, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Tribune, Kansas with the Reverends Charles Ayers and Stephen Wing officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
