GARDEN CITY, KS
MICHAEL "MIKE" J. RUPP, AGE 89, DIED SUNDAY, MAR. 12, 2006 @ THE MORTON COUNTY SPECIAL CARE UNIT IN ELKHART, KANSAS. HE WAS BORN JULY 23, 1916 IN NESS COUNTY, KS THE SON OF JOSEPH AND CATHERINE DECHANT RUPP. HE ATTENDED SCHOOL IN RURAL NESS COUNTY BEFORE MOVING TO GARDEN CITY IN 1931. HE WORKED FOR VARIOUS FARMERS UNTIL 1953 WHEN HE BEGAN HIS EMPLOYMENT WITH NORTHERN NATURAL GAS IN HOLCOMB, KANSAS. HE RETIRED IN 1981 AFTER 28 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE ENJOYED DOING YARDWORK, TENDING HIS FLOWERS AND HAVING COFFEE WITH HIS RETIRED FRIENDS. HE LOVED TO DANCE AND HIS GREATEST JOY WAS SPENDING TIME WITH HIS GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AND HE WAS A PAST PRESIDENT AND TRUSTEE OF THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES ALL OF GARDEN CITY.
ON JULY 23, 1940, HE MARRIED ERMINA BRUNGARDT IN GARDEN CITY, KS. SHE SURVIVES.
OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE: 3 SONS, MELVIN RUPP OF GARDEN CITY, KANSAS, JAMES RUPP OF DENVER, COLORADO AND RALPH RUPP OF FAIRFIELD GLADE, TENNESSEE. 5 DAUGHTERS, EILEEN DOAK OF WICHITA, KANSAS, EVELYN BETTS OF HOLCOMB, KANSAS, ALICE WALSH OF CADEZ, KENTUCKY, JANICE BURLING OF ST. MARTINVILLE, LOUISIANA AND MARILYN BUHR OF PLYMOUTH, MINNESOTA. 2 BROTHERS, PAUL RUPP OF GARDEN CITY, KANSAS AND ADAM RUPP OF DODGE CITY, KANSAS. 4 SISTERS, MARY EGGERS OF BROKEN ARROW, OKLAHOMA, JULIA STOECKLEIN OF HUTCHINSON, KANSAS, RITA RIEBEL OF MINNEOLA, KANSAS AND ELVIRA BILLINGER OF SCOTT CITY, KANSAS. 18 GRANDCHILDREN, 29 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN AND 1 GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILD.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY 2 BROTHERS, JOHN & FRANK RUPP AND 2 SISTERS, KATHRYN ZIMMERMAN AND PAULINE KAISER.
A VIGIL SERVICE WILL BEGIN AT 8:00PM, ON TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 2006 @ ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH IN GARDEN CITY.
THE FUNERAL MASS WILL BE SAID AT 10:00AM, ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 2006 ALSO AT ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH IN GARDEN CITY WITH FATHER JAMES E. BAKER AS CELEBRANT.
FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 1PM-8PM MONDAY AND FROM 10AM-6PM TUESDAY @ PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN GARDEN CITY, KS
THE INTERMENT WILL BE IN THE SUNSET MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY IN GARDEN CITY, KS
