Obituary of Ruby Rodenbeek
Please share a memory of Ruby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruby Claire Rodenbeek, age 99, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at her home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on September 21, 1911 in Kipp, Kansas, the daughter of James Hess and Sarah Evelina Helsel Force. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a Teacher and homemaker.
Ruby was a one of a kind lady with a very unique sense of humor. She was very active in her community, but her most important focus was her family. Her home was always home for her children and grandchildren. Nothing was more fun than going to grandma's and grandpa's for the holiday times in Scott City. Her home was open and welcome to all. She was an athleteâ playing golf, tennis and basketball. She loved to go to the park and Pyramids for many family picnics & hikes. Ruby was a singer in the Baptist Church Choir and sang for many events. Her skits are famous. Ruby was also an artist, writer, teacher and wonderful cook. Her last days were spent with family caring for and loving her and many came to tell Ruby how much they loved her and what she meant to them. She joked with them and expressed her special love and energy for each one. After they left, she would say, "I loved that". We all believe she waited for all to tell them goodbye. It was full of grace.
