Obituary of Roberta Norton

Pierceville, Kansas Roberta Louise Norton, age 78, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at her home in Pierceville, Kansas. She was born on October 1, 1928 at Lake, Colorado, the daughter of Jeremiah and Lenola Johnson Merica. A resident of Pierceville, Kansas for several years, she moved to Scott City, Kansas in the early 1980's and then back to Pierceville in 1992. She worked in area restaurants as a waitress and cook. She was a member of the Pierceville Federated Church of Pierceville, Kansas. In July of 1948 she married Lester Lyon at Clayton, New Mexico. He died in August of 1975 at Pierceville. Kansas. Then in July of 1976 she married Fred A. Norton at Scott City, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include: One Son, Marvin Lyon of Sterling, Kansas. Two Daughters, Phyllis Newberry of Garden City, Kansas and Joy Basye of Sedgwick, Kansas. One Brother, Steve Merica of New Mexico. Three Sisters, Dorothy Lyon of Eads, Colorado, June Lindley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dixie Seemann of Penrose, Colorado. Eight Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Lyon, two brothers & three sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with the Rev. Terry Major presiding. Burial will be held in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
