Obituary of Joe NEWBY

Garden City, Kansas Joe Leroy Newby, Age 78, died Friday, December 9, 2005 @ the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born November 7, 1927 at Dodge City, KS, the son of Roy Dauster & JoAnn A. Watson Newby. A resident of Garden City since 1967, moving from Perryton, Texas, he had worked for Myers Dairy and Gardner Dairy until the closing of these companies and was was the only Door to Door Milkman in Garden City. He then worked 10 years for Wal-mart, retiring at the age of 67. He was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church and a past member of the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his wife while working in the yard with his many plants and flowers. He married Martha Ermalee Fleming on June 4, 1949 at Dodge City, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include: 4 Sons, Terry Newby of Garden City, Kansas, David Newby of Farmers Branch, Texas, Douglas Newby of Garden City, Kansas and Jim Newby of Plano, Texas; 6 Daughters, Jayne Newby of Leoti, Kansas, Judith Utt of Walla Walla, Washington, Ann Newby of Dodge City, Kansas, Sue Hertel of Garden City, Kansas, Jolene Newby of Farmers Branch, Texas and Barbara Kitch of Garden City, Kansas 31 Grandchildren & 18 Great-Grandchildren He was preceded in death by 2 brother s & 2 sisters. Memorial Rosary Services will be held at 7:30pm, Sunday, December 11, 2005 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am, Monday, December 12, 2005 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Father Joseph Bahr presiding.
