ALFRED NANNARONE, AGE 81, DIED FRIDAY, MARCH 24, 2006 AT GARDEN VALLEY RETIREMENT VILLAGE IN GARDEN CITY. HE WAS BORN JULY 30, 1924 IN PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND THE SON OF PETER & CATERINA DAMIANI NANNARONE. A GARDEN CITY RESIDENT SINCE 1945, MOVING FROM PROVIDENCE HE WAS A RETIRED U.S. POSTAL CARRIER AND SERVED AS A CROSSING GUARD FOR BUFFALO JONES IN LATER YEARS.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE ST. THOMAS EPISCOPAL CHURCH, AMERICAN LEGION AND VFW, ALL OF GARDEN CITY.
HE WAS A U.S. ARMY WORLD WAR II VETERAN.
ON JANUARY 3, 1945, HE MARRIED GEORGIA ANGELES IN GARDEN CITY, KS. SHE DIED MAY 27, 2003 AT GARDEN CITY. SURVIVERS INCLUDE: 1 SON - DAVID NANNARONE OF GARDEN CITY, 2 BROTHERS - JERRY NANNARONE OF SANTA CLARA, CALIF. AND MARIO NANNARONE OF PROVIDENCE, R.I., 1 SISTER - JOSIE ANTONIZIO OF PROVIDENCE, R.I., AND 2 GRANDCHILDREN.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS AND HIS WIFE. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00PM, TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 2006 AT ST. THOMAS EPISCOPAL CHURCH, GARDEN CITY, KANSAS WITH REV. LARRY STEADMAN OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL BE IN THE VALLEY VIEW CEMETERY â GARDEN CITY, KANSAS
