Stoic & strong, loving & warm Contradictions of a woman, like so many others Her strength derived from some inner & unseen force Her weaknesses lay out bare for us to see, lost in her own world A glimpse of her mind we saw from time to time Sadness to witness for who she was before, she is lost to us now Sadder even still to witness who she was, was lost even to her An illness so cruel that many families have to live with It robs us of a person, their mind, their thoughts & their love To see them regress to a mind that no longer knows us But the days when through the fog they come out For a minute or two, for that brief time we get them back To witness laughter when their mind takes them to a happier time Those are the times we can only appreciate their illness Their fears when they get lost in a sad & scary place The impossibility of not being able to offer comfort No way to let them know we are there To only be able to hold them & touch them & whisper we are near Knowing they can't hear us & fearing us all the same Feeding them, dressing them, walking with them The mind of a child is what many would say Hard to describe my words come only from what I saw Goodbye sweet lady, you stayed with us longer than expected.
