Leoti, Kansas Thelma Eloise Baum, age 86, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Wichita County Long Term Care Unit in Leoti, Kansas. Thelma was born December 2, 1921 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Benjamin Albert & Anna May Britt Kelley. She was a homemaker and had been a Leoti resident since 1958 moving from Garnett, Kansas. Thelma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leoti, Kansas. She and her husband, Charles, were often found on weekends in their converted school bus at Scott State Lake and other lakes surrounding western Kansas, camping and fishing. On March 14, 1942, Thelma married Charles David Baum at Topeka, Kansas. He passed away on April 4, 2000 at Tribune, Kansas. Thelma's surviving family includes- Two sons and their wives- Charles David & Lela ( Fluffy ) Baum, Jr.- Greenville, Illinois Dean Lewis & Linda Baum- Wallace, Kansas One daughter â Vicki Ann Armstrong- Greenville, Illinois Three grandsons- David Neil & Dr. Jaimie Baum- Greenville, Illinois Richard Dean Baum- Wallace, Kansas Steven Christopher Baum- Leoti, Kansas Three granddaughters- Tara Ann Baum Greenville, Illinois Kelley Meadows & Jay Smith- Carlyle, Illinois Trista Michelle Armstrong- Waco, Texas Six great grandchildren Brianna A. Smith, Isaac P. Smith & Chloe A. Smith- Carlyle, Illinois Grace M. Baum, Leona M. Baum & Charles R. Baum- Greenville, Illinois Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Leoti, Kansas, with the Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or the Leoti E.M.T.'s in care of the funeral home.
