My prayers go out to the family for their loss. If times are difficult right now, which they may be, remember you can throw your burden upon Jehovah God and He will sustain you (Psalms 55:22). Again, I'm very sorry for your loss.

As a member of the Class of 1966 I remember David in our Journalism class and the fun we had working on the school paper and the yearbook. I know he touched many lives in his career as a teacher and will be missed.

I had Mr. Laudick as an instructor in his first years in Scott City, and have enjoyed seeing him around many years after that. Looking back, I realize that I learned much more from him than I knew. He had a self-sustained wit about him that, well, for me, made me wonder for moments, "Did he just say that?" I will miss his presence.

Mr. Laudick always had a smile on his face. He was a very good teacher, always helping that person that needed help, he was always there. Always in the summer I would see him out riding his motorcycle, even in the winter time when it was nice enough out. Mr. Laudick thank you for being the Great person that you were. You will be missed. God Bless to Mark, family and friends.

I coached debate with/against David in the 80's. We spend many Saturdays together in the "tab room" discussing kids, teaching, and pop culture. Who can forget David's razor sharp wit, facial expressions (usually of disdain), and uncanny ability to find something good to say about everyone. He has touched so many!

Mr. Laudick was my forensics, debate, and quiz bowl coach; my drama director; and my favorite teacher at SCHS. Unlike so many people who work with young adults he didn't take the easy route by pandering to us and trying to be our friend -- he was demanding, difficult, thorough, and uncompromising -- a true educator. However, he wasn't merely strict, but remarkably kind and generous as well. He was always available to his students, and spent many hours of personal time tutoring and coaching anyone who wanted to take advantage of it. He brought treats to practice and hosted us at his home for a holiday party to celebrate our hard work. He took as much pride in our accomplishments as we did -- in some cases, more than anyone else in a student's life. I visited him several times after I graduated and I only wish I'd ever been able to say more clearly, from an adult perspective, what a remarkable teacher and man he was. Teaching can be a lonely and thankless calling, more so when the teacher is selfless enough to push his students to work beyond their best instead of giving them easy praise. Thank you, Mr. Laudick, for giving so much of your life to your students.

Although he and I had lost touch, I grew up with David in Hoisington, KS. Our families were well acquainted, and in high school, David and I were members of the same (legendary) debate squad for four years. Even then, David had a keen and formidable intellect, a noble sense of self and I admired him greatly. I'm happy to read that he led a vibrant life and touched so many so profoundly.

I heard the name of David often from my good friend, Steve Crum, a friend and fellow teacher here in Kansas City. It takes a special talent and love from God to be a teacher, and that I share with David, even though I didn't know him personally. To his family members I pass on my condolences and sympathy.

"I've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason; bringing something we must learn. And we are led to those who help us as we grow, if we let them, and we help them in return. Well I don't know if I believe that's true, but I know I'm who I am today, because I knew you. Who can say if I've been changed for the better? Because I knew you, I have been changed FOR GOOD . . . so much of me is made from what I learned from you, you'll be with me like a handprint on my heart." That says it so perfectly. Thank you, David Laudick, for being a part of our StuCo family, thank you for making a handprint on our hearts, thank you for changing us both . . . FOR GOOD. You are loved and you will be missed. We know, another angel is looking down from heaven.

David, you are my forever best friend and brother--as you have been for over 40 years. As part of my life fabric, your passing is devastating for me. But I know you are in a far better place, among your beloved parents, and able to run and jump with two strong legs. If there are motorcycles in Heaven, you are breezing along. I miss you already, and always will. We laughed a lot, didn't we? Your grace, intelligence, wit, and purity of heart affected the many who knew you. God Bless.

David, or Mr. Laudick as most of us knew him, was a very nice guy. He was an excellent teacher. I especially liked to visit with him and hear his stories. He lived his life the way that suited him. He had lots of "toys" and gadgets and was a kid at heart. May Peace be with him and his family at this time.
