Matilda Kleymann, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Matlida was born February 25, 1922 at St. Peter, Kansas, the daughter of Mathew & Madlen Pfeifer Bender. She had been a resident of Greeley County since 1926 moving from the St. Peter area. In 1943, she graduated from Greeley County High School in Tribune, Kansas. She then attended Ft. Hays State Teachers College in Hays, Kansas, graduating in 1944. Matilda taught grade school and served as a United States Post Office clerk in Greeley County and later became a farm wife. Matilda's memberships include- St. Joseph Catholic Church- Tribune, Kansas Sisters of St. Joseph- Wichita, Kansas She was very active in several bridge clubs in Tribune, Kansas and was a founding member of the Sunflower Chapter of American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. ( A.H.S.G.R. ) On February 25, 1943 she married Bernard McGee in Wichita County, Kansas. He passed away January 16, 1944 at Wakeeney, Kansas. Matlida later married Frederick J. Kleymann on January 11, 1950 in Wichita County, Kansas. He passed away on August 4, 1997 at Hays, Kansas. Matilda's survivors include- Two sons and their wives- Joseph & Jyh-yin Kleymann- Tribune, Kansas Blane & Kassy Kleymann- Hays, Kansas One daughter and her husband- Bonnie & John Kern- Moorhead, Minnesota One sister- Albena Browning- Garden City, Kansas Five grandchildren & spouses Steven & Anne Kern - Champlain, Minnesota Brenda Kern - Maple Grove, Minnesota Shirley Kern- Maple Grove, Minnesota Karis Kleymann- Hays, Kansas Reagan Kleymann- Hays, Kansas Four Great Grandchildren Shannon Kern - Champlain, Minnesota Erin Kern- Champlain, Minnesota Meagan Kern- Champlain, Minnesota Kelly Kern- Champlain, Minnesota She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Edward Bender and a sister, Barbara Moran. Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. ( M.D.T. ) Sunday, July 13, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tribune, Kansas. Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. ( M. D. T. ) Monday, July 14, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tribune, Kansas with Father Benjamin Martin officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m., to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greeley County Health Services or The Sunflower Chapter of A.H.S.G.R. in care of the funeral home.
