Scott City William Paul Irvin, age 88, passed away at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas on Monday, October 3, 2005. He was born on January 25, 1917 to David Cambell and Mildred Cannon Irvin at Bengin, Arkansas. On August 12 1940 he was married to Marietta Hall at Marshall, Arkansas. She survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Ushers, Board of Trustees and the Board of Deacons. He attended schools at Nashville, Arkansas and Lamar College in Beaumont, Texas, obtaining a certified degree in welding. He served in the Navy in World War II. He moved to Scott City, Kansas in 1958 and worked for Century Refining Company as a welder and then as a maintenance superintendent for 14 years. In 1972 he entered into business as owner and operator of Paul's Welding Service until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Marietta, a daughter, Cheryl Ann & husband Bob Hughes of Scott City, Kansas. A grandson, Todd & wife Cindy Hughes of Overland Park, Kansas. A granddaughter, Mary Fran and husband Travess Funk of Garden City, Kansas. Four Great Grandsons â Brittian, Cory, Jorden & Kaden and One Great Granddaughter â Adyson Lou. He was proceeded in death by two brothers, John Robert Irvin & Joe Conway Irvin and Four Sisters, Mamie, Virginia, Lamont, and Christene.
