CAROL J. HOWELL, AGE 75, PASSED AWAY ON FRIDAY, MARCH 16, 2007 AT HAYS MEDICAL CENTER IN HAYS, KANSAS. CAROL WAS BORN OCTOBER 5, 1931 IN LIBERAL, KANSAS, THE DAUGHTER OF CHARLES JEFFERSON & BEULAH MAE WILSON BORDEN. SHE HAD BEEN A GREELEY COUNTY RESIDENT SINCE 1951 MOVING FROM GUYMON, OKLAHOMA. SHE ATTENDED PANHANDLE A&M UNIVERSITY IN GOODWELL, OKLAHOMA, RECEIVED HER BS DEGREE IN 1971 AND HER MASTERS DEGREE IN EDUCATION IN 1979 BOTH FROM FORT HAYS STATE UNIVERSITY. SHE WAS A FARMER, A HOMEMAKER AND A TEACHER IN THE GREELEY COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM RETIRING IN 1995. CAROLS MEMBERSHIPS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE- FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH- TRIBUNE, KANSAS V.F.W. LADIES AUXILLARY # 7521- " PRIDE COMMITTEE- " FORMER 4-H LEADER- " BUSY BEE CLUB, AMERICAN BAPTIST WOMENS MISSIONARY SOCIETY, WHITELAW F.C.E., KANSAS EDUCATION ASSN., NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSN., DELTA KAPPA GAMMA AND THE GRANDMAS PITCH CLUB. ON MAY 18, 1950 SHE MARRIED ROY EVERETT HOWELL AT GOODWELL, OKLAHOMA. HE SURVIVES. CAROL'S OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE- TWO SONS AND THEIR SPOUSES- DANNY & BRITTANY HOWELL- TRIBUNE, KANSAS LARRY & JAMIE HOWELL- LIBERAL, KANSAS ONE DAUGHTER- DEBRA WISE- FOWLER, KANSAS TWO SISTERS- BARBARA FOWLKES- IMPERIAL, CALIFORNIA MARY ELLEN LA MAR- BOISE, IDAHO GRANDCHILDREN AND THEIR SPOUSES- SHAWNA HOWELL, SKYLAR & KARA JO HOWELL, SHANCEE HOWELL, TERYN & BRANDON DRAPER, TYLER BROWN, ANDREW HOWELL, DANIELLE HOWELL, JARRETT WISE AND EVERLY WISE. GREAT GRANDCHILDREN- BREKKEN HOWELL AND LIV BROWN. SHE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY A DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND, EVERLY & STEPHEN OAKES IN 1975, A SON-IN-LAW SCOTT WISE IN 2000, TWO BROTHERS, CHARLEY & ROY BORDEN AND TWO SISTERS, ELMA BRISENDINE AND VELMA HARTWIG. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 P.M. (M.D.T.) TUESDAY, MARCH 20, 2007 AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS WITH THE REVERENDS MARK RANDOLPH AND BILLY RAMMAGE OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN GREELEY COUNTY CEMETERY, TRIBUNE, KANSAS. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M. MONDAY, MARCH 19, 2007 AT PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS.
