Blanche Viola Jeffrey Houston, age 99, fell asleep on March 15, 2011 at the Greeley County Long Term Care Center in Tribune, Kansas. Blanche was born June 11, 1911 in the Riverside community of Ness County, Kansas, the daughter of Lewis Alpheas Don & Nettie Mae Cowles Jeffrey. A resident of Greeley County, Kansas since 1947 moving from the Bushton, Kansas area, she was a loving homemaker, farm wife and mother who loved God and His word.
Blanche was a member of the Baptist Church for fifty years and since 1970 had fellowshipped with The Way International research and teaching ministry in New Knoxville, Ohio.
On October 3, 1928 she married William Grant Houston in Raymond, Kansas. They had been married for seventy-five years when he passed away on May 25, 2005 at Tribune, Kansas.
Blanche's surviving family includes- Four Children- Wanda Lorraine Houston Smith- Tribune, Kansas Lawrence Houston and his wife Carol- Tribune, Kansas Cecile Houston Shepherd and her husband Jerry- Tribune, Kansas Roger Houston and his wife Vicki- Lakewood, Colorado Twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Three sisters, Vera Black, Evelyn Houston and Cleo Grace Jeffrey, three brothers, Orville Jeffrey, Clarence Jeffrey and Kenneth Jeffrey, a son-in-law, Dearld Smith and a grand daughter, Marilyn Smith Klein preceded her in death.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. ( M.D.T. ) Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with the Reverend Mark Randolph officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Greeley County Long Term Care Center in Tribune, Kansas in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
