Garden City, Kansas Mary Lou Hays, age 76, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born February 14, 1931 in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of Henry F. and Opal Mae Schwabedissen Waits. A resident of Garden City since 1946 moving from Parsons, Kansas she had been a music and pre-school teacher in Garden City for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City where she was the founding member of the "Godmothers" and the "Arts Angels" as well as leading the Bernadine Bell Choir for several years. She was currently the Children's Music Instructor and Director at the Garden City Recreation Commission. On June 2, 1951 she married Duane W. Hays in Garden City, Kansas. He died May 10, 2000 in Garden City. Survivors Include: Two Sons, Kelly (& wife, Deb) Hays of Garden City, Kansas Mark Hays of Garden City, Kansas; Her Mother, Opal M. Gross of Garden City, Kansas Three Grandchildren, Jaime Bradford, Bryan Hays & Caitlin Hays. She was preceded in death by her husband and her father. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas with the Rev. David Bell presiding. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm Tuesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
