MELVA GAY (PEGGY) HAMANN, AGE 101, PASSED AWAY ON MONDAY, APRIL 16, 2007, AT THE GREELEY COUNTY LONG TERM CARE UNIT IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS. MELVA WAS BORN MARCH 22, 1906 IN GREELEY COUNTY, KANSAS, THE DAUGHTER OF TILLMAN FREDERICK & EUNICE TINY PUTNAM ROZEAN. SHE WAS A HOMEMAKER AND A LIFETIME GREELEY COUNTY RESIDENT. SHE GRADUATED FROM WICHITA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL IN LEOTI IN 1923.
MELVA WAS OF THE LUTHERN FAITH AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE FINNEY CHAPTER OF THE ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR #359 IN GARDEN CITY, KANSAS.
ON OCTOBER 3, 1928 SHE MARRIED HANS H. HAMANN AT TRIBUNE, KANSAS. HE PASSED AWAY ON JANUARY 1, 1969 AT TRIBUNE, KANSAS.
MELVA'S SURVIVORS INCLUDE- TWO SONS- FREDERICK C. HAMANN- HOLIDAY ISLAND, ARKANSAS WILLIAM E. HAMANN- TRIBUNE, KANSAS TWO DAUGHTERS- JOY A. SAWYER- TRIBUNE, KANSAS DORTHEA L. BENNETT-FISHER- GREEN VALLEY, ARIZONA SEVENTEEN GRANDCHILDREN, EIGHTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND TWO GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SHE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY ONE SON, HANS HAMANN ON JANUARY 28, 1995 AT MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA AND A DAUGHTER, MARY E. THON ON JANUARY 7, 2007 AT TRIBUNE, KANSAS AND THREE GRANDCHILDREN.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 A.M. (M.D.T.) FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 2007 AT THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS WITH THE REVEREND LES ELLIS OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN GREELEY COUNTY CEMETERY, TRIBUNE, KANSAS.
FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 2:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. WEDNESDAY AND FROM 10 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M. THURSDAY AT PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS.
MEMORIALS MAY BE GIVEN TO THE DOWNTOWN TRIBUNE REVITALIZATION PROGRAM IN CARE OF THE FUNERAL HOME.
