Emma Jane Harkness Neeland passed away at age 76 on October 2, 2009 at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on October 15, 1932 in Scott County, Kansas, the daughter of Brannon Burl Harkness and Reba Katherine (Walker) Harkness. A resident of Colorado Springs since 1993 she was a homemaker and an active volunteer. Among her many volunteer duties she also served as the president of the Colorado Springs Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #4051 and also as Colorado State Buddy Poppy Chairman. On June 11, 1950 she married Edgar M. Greenlee in Scott City, Kansas. He died November 3, 1975. She married John Neeland on May 31, 1995 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He survives. Other survivors include her son John Greenlee of Kansas City, Missouri, daughters Nancy Greenlee of Leawood, Kansas, Rebecca Stoppel of Holcomb, Kansas and Diana Elmore of Colorado Springs, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her parents and her sisters Helen Wiechman and Doris Strickert preceded her in death. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas. A future private family internment will be held in Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Emma's name may be given to Homes For Our Troops care of Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, Kansas.
