VICTOR R. "BARNEY" GREEN, AGE 84, PASSED AWAY ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2007 AT THE WICHITA COUNTY HEALTH CENTER IN LEOTI, KANSAS. HE WAS BORN OCTOBER 29, 1922 AT WELLINGTON, KANSAS, THE SON OF HARRY RAYMOND & HAZEL COPE GREEN. HE WAS A LIFETIME RESIDENT OF WICHITA COUNTY AND WAS THE FORMER OWNER & OPERATOR OF GREEN BUTANE. HE WAS A WORLD WAR TWO VETERAN SERVING AS A DC3 & DC6 PILOT FOR THE UNITED STATES NAVY. BARNEY'S MEMBERSHIPS INCLUDE- FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH- LEOTI, KANSAS ANTHEM MASONIC LODGE- SCOTT CITY, KANSAS ROTARY CLUB- LEOTI, KANSAS HE WAS A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE WICHITA COUNTY MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE AND ONE OF THE FIRST SUPPORTERS OF LITTLE LEAGUE IN LEOTI. HE HAD SERVED ON THE LEOTI CITY COUNCIL, THE WICHITA COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND THE WICHITA COUNTY HEALTH CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS. FOR OVER 50 YEARS BARNEY PROVIDED THE MASONIC FUNERAL RITES FOR MANY OF HIS FALLEN BRETHERN IN THE WESTERN KANSAS AREA. ON FEBRUARY 29, 1944 HE MARRIED MARGARET PROSSER AT PENSACOLA, FLORIDA. SHE SURVIVES. BARNEY'S OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE- THREE SONS AND THEIR WIVES- JACK & JUDY GREEN- DENVER, COLORADO JIM & CHERYL GREEN- LEOTI, KANSAS STEVEN & WANDA GREEN- CANYON, TEXAS ONE SISTER EVELYN WHALEN- LEOTI, KANSAS SIX GRANDCHILDREN AND EIGHT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN HE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY A GRANDSON, JOHN P. GREEN, TWO BROTHERS, THAYNE GREEN & MARVIN GREEN AND ONE SISTER, ALICE BARR. MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE CONDUCTED AT 2:00 P.M. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2007 AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN LEOTI, KANSAS WITH THE REVEREND PAUL McNALL OFFICIATING. INURNMENT WILL BE IN LEOTI CEMETERY IN LEOTI, KANSAS. THE FAMILY SUGGESTS MEMORIALS IN LIEU OF FLOWERS TO THE BARNEY GREEN MEMORIAL FUND TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO SEVERAL OF BARNEY'S FAVORITE CHARITIES IN CARE OF PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN LEOTI, KANSAS.
