Jack Leroy Gorsuch, age 89, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Wichita County L.T.C.U. in Leoti, Kansas. Jack was born February 5, 1919 at Leoti, Kansas the son of Walter R. & Verna N. Wilson Gorsuch. A graduate of Wichita County High School in 1936, serving as class president, he attended Southwestern University in Winfield, Kansas where he played football, basketball, ran track and sang in the a cappella choir. He was innovative in his concept of farming, irrigation and farm equipment. He grew experimental grains which exhibited potential as good producers in western Kansas. A lifetime resident of Wichita County, he served during W.W. II in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas. While in college, he married Margery V. Johnson on September 7, 1941 at Mount Hope, Kansas. She survives. Jack's other survivors include- Two daughters and their husbands- Jaclyn G. & John Gannon- Atlanta, Georgia Pamela G. & Jeff Menzie- Ulysses, Kansas One son and his wife Timothy & Candy Gorsuch- Selkirk, Kansas Fourteen grandchildren- Megan K. Partridge- Royal Oak, Michigan Allison A. Paulk- Atlanta, Georgia Jack B, Gorsuch- Los Angeles, California Nancy C. Boss- Toledo, Ohio Adrienne A. Randel- Indianola, Nebraska Daniel J. Gannon- Atlanta, Georgia Michael J, Menzie- San Diego, California Matthew D. Gorsuch- Albuquerque, New Mexico Nathan M. Gannon- Washington, D.C. Walter S., Michalyn V., William C., Timothy L. and Nathanial J. Gorsuch all of Denver Colorado Five Great grandchildren- Matthew C. Gorsuch- Wichita, Kansas Grant T. Partridge- Royal Oak, Michigan Addison A. Randel- Indianola, Nebraska Elijah N. Boss- Toledo, Ohio Ashlyn G. Randel- Indianola, Nebraska One sister and her husband- Eva Jean & Dr. K.K. Mammel- Denver, Colorado A niece- Kay Sellers- Denver, Colorado A niece in law- Susan Mammel- Denver, Colorado He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Walter F. Gorsuch. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 12, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Rick Just officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Leoti E.M.T.'s or Wichita County L.T.C.U. in care of the funeral home.
