Sarah Mildred Foster, age 82, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Greeley County Medical Center in Tribune, Kansas. Sarah was born December 2, 1926 at Sublette, Kansas the daughter of John & Lila Radcliff Watson. Sarah graduated from Sublette High School and attended business college in Denver, Colorado. Sarah's multi-faceted life included a love of Christ, love for family and friends, doing evangelistic chalk-talks, Phyllis Diller impressions, bowling, golfing, tennis, playing the saxophone in the community band, and playing unusual musical instruments such as the singing saws, spoons, and old cow rib bones. Sarah was an accomplished painter and author. Sarah enjoyed flying, soloing a powered parachute at age 64 and working towards her pilots' license at age 80.
On September 21, 1948 she married Maurice W. Foster at Sublette, Kansas and they moved to Greeley County, Kansas to farm in 1949. He passed away on September 21, 1997 at Tribune, Kansas.
Sarah's surviving family members include- Two sons- Mark & Darlene Foster- Colorado Springs, Colorado Keith & Pam Foster- Holcomb, Kansas Three daughters- Peggy Sebastian- Tribune, Kansas Nancy & Gary Upchurch- Colorado Springs, Colorado Tracey & Jimmy Willard- Garden City, Kansas A brother- Marvin Watson- Tribune, Kansas A sister- Lila Maxine Shaver- Denver, Colorado Thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. ( M.S.T.) Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Tribune, Kansas with the Reverend Mark Randolph officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. ( C.S.T.) Wednesday at Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, Kansas.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Sarah M. Foster Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
