Kalvesta, Kansas Roy Dean Fercking, age 76, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born October 27, 1933 in Ness County, Kansas the son of Henry and Lillie Eitel Fercking. After graduating from Ness City High School, Roy worked as a carpenter with his uncle and later drove for Harkness Trucking in Ransom, KS. He moved to the Kalvesta community and had been a rancher and farmer for the last 47 years. He was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church. He loved life, family, and friends. He enjoyed playing cards at home with family and at the local Co-op with friends. He was always ready for square dancing and western two-step, hunting, fishing, pulling family and friends behind his boat on water skis and inner tubes, giving the younger kids rides on his 4 wheeler, and helping neighbors with any community work projects. On February 13, 1956, he married Ann Elizabeth Dumler in Ingalls, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include: Three Daughters, Cindi Fercking of Garden City, Kansas, Deandra Proehl of Holcomb, Kansas and Rhonda Griffin of Garden City, Kansas; One Son, Rod Fercking of Garden City, Kansas; One Sister, Doris Stiawalt of Wichita, Kansas; Eleven Grandchildren and Six Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Gabel, brother Ray Fercking, son Troy Fercking, and grandson Jeremy Griffin. Vigil and Rosary services will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. The Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00am on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the church with Father Wesley Schawe presiding. Friends may call from 10:00am until 8:00pm on Friday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Roy Fercking Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City. Price & Sons Funeral Home 620 N.
