Obituary of Eileen “Faye” Krenzel

Colorado Springs, Colorado

Faye Krenzel, age 84, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Faye was born December 21, 1937, in Wichita County, Kansas to Louie and Eva Baum. Faye married her high school sweetheart, Dwight Krenzel, on January 30, 1958. Faye and Dwight enjoyed dance club, golfing, card parties with friends and loved spending time with their family. They lived and farmed in Leoti until they retired and moved to Colorado in 1994 and built their mountain home in Chipita Park. In 1995 they opened a gift shop, the Wilderness Shoppe, at the base of Pikes Peak and enjoyed meeting families from near and far. After fully retiring, they traveled to visit their children and grandchildren, their greatest joy; Faye loved her life as a farmwife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker and Leoti always remained her “home” in her heart.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Laverne Keifer and Elaine Oberheim; one sister-in-law, Wilda Kalbach; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Keifer and Don Oberheim; and two nieces, Barbara Reid and Karen Kalbach.

Survivors include husband, Dwight Krenzel of Colorado Springs, son Jay (Luke) of Wichita, daughter Joni Hallman/Bill Hallman (Jaime and Clay) of St. Louis, daughter Dea Luebbers/Preston Luebbers (Brendon and Drew) of Colorado Springs, one brother-in-law, Art Kalbach and six nieces and two nephews.

Faye bravely fought a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s to the very end. Family is honoring Faye’s life and journey privately. Online memorial donations can be made to the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s Colorado Springs and donate to our MorningStar at Mountain Shadows team or send an Alzheimer’s Association donation directly to Dwight Krenzel at 5355 Centennial Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Her family & friends will join to walk in her name in Colorado Springs on October 1st.
