Charlotte Bales posted a condolence

I am so sorry for your loss. I am in a church quilting group that Mary was part of. We are still finishing some of the beautiful quilt tops she made for our group. Even though she has gone on to be with the Lord her craftsmanship will always live on. I also treasure the little gifts she often made for the ladies in our group. There just aren't many women like that anymore. She is greatly missed. Much love to the family, Charlotte Bales Andover, KS

Coffee cakes! There are so many ways to remember and honor Grandma Mary, and for me it will be through coffee cakes. I’ve never been too bold to stray from my cuisine routines. I knew what I liked and I stuck with it stubbornly. Then one day you walk in and there’s this really pleasing aroma in the air; you are told it’s coffee cake. You argue because you dislike coffee and know it doesn’t smell like that! Grandma Mary offers you a piece and you fall in love. If she knew I was visiting she would make up a cake whenever she could and to me that’s very special. Thank you Grandma Mary. I will break my fast with coffee cake in your honor.

So, so sorry for the friends and family loss. Mary was the sweetest lady. The last time I remember seeing her, she and Jim came and stopped by to see me and meet James. Really enjoyed our visit. Then they went on to Pocahontas. I believe she stopped and visited with my cousin; Sylvia and family as well. Will never forget this sweet lady. See you again one day, Mary.

Mary was a special lady. She was the mother (mother in law) of our friends , Jim and Carol Scott. She always treated us like family, bestowing us with her nice crafts and sewing. She liked to tell of her projects and what patterns she used which usually went right over my head since I can’t even crochet a straight line. She was a hard worker and always busy. She kept our church sewing group supplied with lovely quilt tops for years. We will miss Mary and we hope God needs a good scarf.
