Obituary of Maurice Dean Jeffries

Maurice Dean Jeffries, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 22,  2021, at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.  He was born on January 19, 1935, in Modoc, Kansas, the son of Forrest Franklin and Mabel Leoti Shearmire Jeffries.  Dean was a resident of Leoti, Kansas from 1960 until 2012 when he moved to Scott City, Kansas.  In 2014 he moved to Garden City, Kansas.  Dean was an AA member for 44 years.

He was the owner and operator of Jeffries Electric in Leoti, Kansas until the late 1990’s when he went to work for Maple Creek Farms as project manager for 7 years before he retired.

He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation in Garden City, Kansas.

On August 12, 1954, he married Mona Rhea Burgess in Garden City, Kansas.  She passed away on November 23, 2018, in Garden City, Kansas.

Survivors include his Two Daughters - Cynthia & Kenneth Becker of Garden City, Kansas, Stephanie & James Fontenot of Garden City, Kansas, One Son - N. James Jeffries of Leoti, Kansas, One Brother - Robert & Patricia Jeffries of Modoc, Kansas, Four Grandchildren - Jennifer & Mark Doll of Garden City, Kansas, Tori Jeffries of Healy, Kansas, Jordan Becker of Norman, Oklahoma, Logan Fontenot of Garden City, Kansas, and Thirteen Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Four Brothers, Two Grandsons - Trax Fontenot, Casey Becker, One Great Grandson - Garrett Doll.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.  The funeral service will be Live-streamed at www.priceandsons.com.

A Jehovah’s Witness Zoom service will be held at a later date.

There will be no calling times.
