Laura Ellen Medina, 69, passed away on September 25, 2021, at Wichita County Hospital. She was the wife of Charles Medina and they shared over 50 years of marriage, 3 sons, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren together.
Born March 2, 1952, in Leoti Kansas, she was one of the six children of Merle and Dorothy Hahn Bishop. She graduated from WCHS in 1970 and then attended cosmetology school in Garden City, Ks.
On March 13, 1971, she married Charles Medina of Leoti, Kansas. She was employed at Western State Bank in Leoti for 25 years where she worked as a loan officer, retiring 8 years ago.
She was a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, a Leoti City Council Member, Mayor of Leoti, Economic Development Committee Member, and had volunteered within her community of Leoti, Ks with several organizations.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with her husband Charles. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laura will be remembered for her smile, compassion, and her devotion to her community.
She is survived by her spouse Charles Medina of Leoti, Kansas, two sons - Blaine & Patricia Medina of Leoti, Kansas, Cory & Anna Medina of Portland, Oregon, two brothers - Les & Patricia Bishop of Leoti, Kansas, Larry & Cheryl Bishop of Leoti, Kansas, three sisters - Janet & Gerald Kasten of Skandia, Michigan, Barbara & Pat Ryan of Scott City, Kansas, Anita & Mike Ellis of Scott City, Kansas, three grandchildren - Tye & Delaney Manns of Blue Mound, Illinois, Tori Smith of Leoti, Kansas, and Mateo Medina of Portland, Oregon, great-grandchildren Jackson and Augustina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son - Chad Medina.
Vigil Services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti, Kansas with Fr. Tim Hickey presiding.
Interment will be in the Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, 4th and J Street; Leoti, Kansas, 67861.
