My Dear Novak Family, Many fond memories of Aunt Arlene go back to my young childhood when my family visited her and Uncle Glenn on their farm. We did not have a piano, so Arlene's became mine during those visits. Of course I didn't know how to play, but the tones of the notes as I pressed the keys still are in my mind. After Arlene moved to town, I visited her in her apartment. When I arrived I was greeted by the heavenly aroma of a big juicy rhubarb pie she was baking for me. Knowing I live in Florida, where no rhubarb is in sight, she made sure I had my fill of that wonderful treat. I have received many of her recipes and have fond memories of many family occasions enjoying her delicious dishes.
Thankfully, my sister and I were able to travel to Kansas in November 2019 which was our last visit with Arlene. Her beautiful smile never left her face. I have always known Arlene to be a sweet and gracious lady. My heart-felt thoughts are with Arlene's children (my cousins) and their children during this time of sadness. She will be forever in our hearts.
