Obituary of LaVera Martha Freda King

LaVera Martha Freda King, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on August 17, 1932, in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of John and Hilda Koch Wiechman. She was a homemaker most of her life and was loved to the moon and back by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, a member of the VIP Senior Center, and a Pink Lady for the Scott County Hospital. She enjoyed many years of bowling which included several state and National trips with family and friends and “dancing the night” away at the VIP Senior Center.

On October 8, 1951, she married Harry V. King in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on September 1, 1981, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Two Daughters - Gloria & Forrest Gough of Scott City, Kansas, Carol & Bruce Latham of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sons - Randy & Kay King of Scott City, Kansas and David & Susan King of Olathe, Kansas, One Sister - Velda & Milt Riddiough of Scott City, Kansas, One Brother - Jerry & Joyce Wiechman of Scott City, Kansas, Five Granddaughters - Shellie Carter, Krista & Jeremy McDaniel, Shanna & Cody Wells, Danea & Chad Wasinger all of Scott City, Kansas and Sarah King of Olathe, Kansas, Three Grandsons - Teth & Sonya Gough of Blue Springs, Missouri, Alex & Alyssa King of Olathe, Kansas and Harrison King of Scott City, Kansas, Thirteen great-grandchildren, One great great-grandson and numerous Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Marvin, Martin, and Donnie Wiechman, and 2 sisters Geneva Faurot and LuElla Erskin.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with Pastor Rodney Hopper presiding. Services will be Live-Streamed on Price & Sons Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to The Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Park Lane Nursing home or the VIP Senior Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Homes.

Visitation times will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
