Best boss a nephew could ask for. Got to drive all kinds of farm equipment at 14 and 15. Way too many stories from those two summers to get into here. One of my best more recent memories was him attending a KU game at Allen Field House with me. We always had fun discussing Jayhawk basketball. Don’t know how many miles he’s walked with me pheasant hunting through the years. He just walked along with us and didn’t carry a gun. To put in my mothers words, “He was My Favorite Uncle closest to her age!”

Hazel and family
I feel very fortunate to of had Verdell as what I would call a bonus dad. That meant basketball in the barn, softball at Scott Lake , racing to Scott City to skate and even a race to Dairy Queen after church to get their order in first after church. As I grew older and moved away whenever I returned and we crossed paths it was always catch up and best wishes encounter. The few things I know for sure in life I know Verdell was a man of great fath and know the pearly gates were wide open and he was welcomed in. To his family I send my love and prayers
