Rest George, until you hear at dawn,
the low, clear reveille of God.
Thank you for your service to this nation. U.S. Army, Korean War.

I was so glad to get a chance to share with George and Bill a few years ago how big an impact they had on my life before and after my own dad passed away when I was a teen. It was kind of funny when I initially tried to show George the tribute I had included about the two of them in a presentation I had made, because he thought I was going to try to convert him to Catholicism. "No, George," I laughed, "that’s something you all do!" It was a good time.
My condolences to you all. George was a good man, and I am grateful to have benefited from his presence in my life.

Condolences to Karen, Peggy, Kyle and families, wishing I could be there with you today. Rest in peace Uncle George.
The video brought back a lot of memories of growing up as part of the Evans gang. Here are a few photos from those days, as well as earlier ones. The only one that needs explanation is the one of Grandpa George Evans and Grandma Amy Evans at their home in Sutherland Nebraska. This was probably taken on Easter, 1930 as Amy was getting ready to go on the Gold Star Pilgrimage to France to see the grave of their son Samuel, who died in the 1918 flu epidemic while serving in WWI. Bob is right in front of Grandpa, Dorothy is in the front row, and George is being held by Grandma Amy.

I met Mr. Evans a few times. The first time was at his daughter Megan's wedding in South Carolina and the second time was in Wichita Kansas when Kyle and I decided to give pastor wade a suprise on his last day as pastor of First Baptist Church of Eldorado, KS. We stayed at the same hotel that Saturday. The very day he met me, he acted like he knew me for years. We had a long conversation on a wide range of issue. I still remembered in one of our conversations where he expressed how proud he was of his son, Kyle. He was a pleasant person to be around. I would like to thank him for sharing two lovely people with me,.Kyle Evans and Peggy Graber. The two of them means so much to my family.
May God wipe away every tears from the family eyes.
May his soul rest in peace and life perpetual shines upon him.

I spent a lot of time with my Uncle George and Aunt Wanda. They were the only family we had right here in Leoti and were way more like grandparents to me. They are part of many of my memories growing up and will forever be part of me.
I remember staying at their house whenever my parents had to be gone (or whenever I could honestly) and staying up super late to watch old movies. Uncle George loved all of those those old movies and I cannot count the number of times we all watched “Teachers Pet”, “An Affair to Remember”, the Herbie the Lovebug” movies or any of the Gidget movies! I think he really loved that I loved them too. I still love those old movies and smile when I do happen to run across them somewhere.
