William Wilbur Pfeifer, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the Brewster Health Center in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on May 6, 1927, in Greeley County, Kansas, the son of John J. And Elizabeth M. Deering Pfeifer.
William enlisted in the US Navy shortly following his 17th birthday in 1944. A large number of Naval recruits at the time resulted in his being sent home to work on the farm subject to being recalled, which never occurred.

William farmed, worked in the hay business with his brother-in-law, Leon Beedy, and worked at Collingwood Grain Elevators in Selkirk and Leoti most of his adult life, eventually managing the Leoti Collingwood facility. William liked working with his hands and spending time manicuring his yard.
Upon retirement and moving to Topeka, he enjoyed helping his son and daughter-in-law with their many projects. His son was continually amazed at his Dad’s patience and ingenuity.
