Obituary of Charles D. Carpenter

Charles D. Carpenter, age 82, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2020, at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Charlie was born June 19, 1937, in Thomas County, Kansas, the son of Charles A. & Mildred (Kenefake) Carpenter.
Charlie has been a resident of Wichita County, Kansas since 1983 moving from Colby, Kansas. He was a dog breeder of racing greyhounds from 1983 until 1993 and retired as a custodian for Wichita County High School in 1999.
Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with friends and family. He has passed his love for hunting and fishing on to his grandsons, Chase and Huck. Charlie was a former member of the Wichita County Bowling League, The National Greyhound Association, The Coon Club, and currently held a membership in the N.R.A.
On October 14, 1978, he married Julie Appl in Leoti, Kansas.
Charlie’s surviving family includes his wife, Julie Carpenter of Leoti, Kansas; two children, Cole & Bridgette Carpenter of Leoti, Kansas and Theresa Carpenter of Sutton, Nebraska. He is also survived by two sisters, Norma Smith of Emporia, Kansas and Annie Brooks of Colby, Kansas as well as three grandchildren.
His parents, a grandchild, and three sisters preceded him in death.
Private funeral services will be held at the Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas.
Friends may sign the book from 1:00 pm until 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
