To the Herrera family I just wanted to reach out to you and extend my deepest condolences. Delores was a very special person to me. She was someone I could confide in when I was the Undersheriff at Wichita Co S/O. She always had a positive attitude, a smile and could make things alright when it wasn't going well. Pete Jr. and Adam it was a pleasure to have gotten to serve with both of you in law enforcement and I have thought of you many times. You were loyal employees and friends. Pete Sr I visited your home several times and you and Delores always made me feel like one of the family. I grieve with you and although we did not keep in touch over the years I still miss you all. It was a very great honor to have known Delores.

We didn't see each other often since I left Leoti, but every time I saw you, you always gave me the biggest hug and it brought me back to my childhood. Our families were intertwined, your boys Pete and Adam were two of my closest friend because of how you raised them to care for others. You did an amazing job as a wife, mother and community servant, you will never be forgotten but I will miss those big hugs. Love you and until we see you again.
I had the privilege of working as a dispatcher with Delores and we became good friends. She had a big heart and was a great lady. She also was a great mom and good cook. She will be missed, my thoughts and prayers to her family. Carlisa Bishop/Davis
