George M. DeWitt, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at his home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on December 18, 1928 in Minneapolis, Kansas, the son of George Wilson and Florence Johnson DeWitt. He was a resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1953 moving from Salina, Kansas. After retiring from Scott County Public Works in 1991, he worked for Western State Bank for 15 years as a courier. He was United States Navy Veteran of World War II.
Memberships include the First Baptist Church of Scott City, Kansas.
On March 23, 1952 he married Virginia Krause in Deerfield, Kansas. She survives. Other Survivors include his Wife - Virginia DeWitt of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sons - David & Anita DeWitt of Wamego, Kansas, Patrick & Diane DeWitt of Garden City, Kansas, Two Daughters - Shawna & Lloyd Foster of Scott City, Kansas, Lori DeWitt of Scott City, Kansas, Two Brothers - Ron & Charlene DeWitt of Beverly, Kansas, Bill & Carol DeWitt of Minneapolis, Kansas, Six Sisters - Dorothy Tebow of St. Joseph, Missouri, Barbara & Chuck Dean of Beverly, Kansas, Doris & Ray Gobert of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Donna & John Wiseman of Cedarville, Kansas, Marge Bailey of Holden, Missouri, Cheryl Ryg of Minneapolis, Kansas, Ten Grandchildren and Four Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents and One Sister â Virginia Robins.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 with the Rev. Kyle Evans presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or St. Catherine Hospice % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
