Obituary of Mervin Edward Davis

Mervin Edward "Dave" Davis, 59 of Holcomb departed this world for his place in heaven Tuesday August 28, 2018. 

Mervin was born October 2, 1959 in Evanston Illinois to Elbert and Emma Mills Davis. He grew up in Evanton, Illinois and graduated from Evanston Township High School. He served 15 years in the US Army stationed many places stateside and overseas. 

On October 31, 2008 he married Cynthia Hankins at Holcomb Kansas. 

 

He enjoyed fishing, sports especially his Chicago Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks and Bulls, singing, playing dominoes, word games such as Scrabble, Farkle, barbeques, spending time with his loved ones and friends as well as sharing his infectious sense of humor and laughter with everyone.

 

Mervin is survived by his wife Cynthia Davis of the home. Sons Marcus Davis (Christy) of Chicago Il, Nicholas Davis (Laura) and Dycen Davis (Anna) of El Paso Tx and James Hankins (Heather) of Gallup New Mexico. Daughters Tiana Finney Shackleford (Kwesi) of Temple Georgia, Jenna Hankins Warnke (Brent) of Ford Kansas and Stephanie Hahn of GC Kansas. Sister Wanda Davis of Chicago Il, brother Brian Davis (Heleane) of Oxford Mississippi. Grandchildren Isaiah Warnke, Spencer Finney, Serenity Finney, Shemar Warnke, Coby Hankins, Zietta Warnke, Kiana Hankins, Sophia Davis, Anthony Davis, Damyn Hankins, Chloe Hankins, Jayden Davis, Elianna Davis, Jayden Hankins, Corey Davis and a Hankins bun in the oven.   Nephews Bryan Davis, Jr., Brandon Davis, Bradley Davis and 1 niece Tiffany Davis.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

 

Cremation will take place with a memorial service including full military honors at Fort Dodge Kansas, September 28, 2018 at 2pm.

 

The family suggests donations and in lieu of flowers to the Mervin Davis Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons 620 N. Main Street, Garden City Kansas 67846.
