Ocie was a wonderful, long-time friend of my dad, Jack Wilson. The last time I saw her was at his funeral, but she was always there with that big smile. Daddy was the County AG agent for Wichita county for 30 years and so enjoyed Ocie's friendship, whether it be at county fairs, the state fair, camp Crockett, 4-H activities or just a phone call with the latest joke. She visited him numerous times even after he retired and my folks moved to Hutchinson. She was there when he was in Hospice Care and brought him a gift that he treasured, a small Cardinal that sings. I still have it. Her friendship meant the world to him, and so, to me. I can imagine the reunion in Heaven, with mom and daddy and Ocie and John. Heaven is a richer place.

I first met Ocie when I joined the extension service as Home Economics Agent for Neosho County, Kansas in February, 1964. (I retired in 2004) I admired Ocie for her knowledge, warmth and caring and for the support she gave me as a new agent. She was so tiny and so energetic. What a whirlwind in a small package.
I also enjoyed working with her as we held offices at the same time on the State Board for Kansas Assoc. of Extension Home Economists and also attended National meetings that she and I attended with the State delegation, after 1967.
Ironically, I had just inquired about Ocie and how she was last Friday, August 10th when we held our retired, (now called FACS agents) gathering in Wichita. She has crossed my mind periodically, wondering how she was doing.
Now my questions are answered. After a long, happy and productive life, may she rest in peace in God's loving hands.

What I remember most about Ocie was her warm and loving smile she shared each time I saw her. She was also very proud of the Foos family, and rightly so! The community of Tribune was blessed by her abundant life! May God surround you with his grace and love as you celebrate Grandma Ocie's legacy.

Ocie was a gracious knowledgeable lady who taught me so much when I worked for Extension Service in Wallace County 1975-77. I asked so many questions and her guidance helped me throughout the years. My sister, Janet Guthrie, and I went to visit her several years ago. We mentioned a favorite cake recipe and she mailed to us her family cookbook. What a treasure.

I have never met someone with a heart like hers. She truly was a grandma to all. I will always remember how exciting it was when she would visit our class, and her impact on our 4H program. God is so lucky to get to be hanging out with Grandma Ocie. Her impact will always be remembered.

I met Ocie as a grade school Wallace Co. 4-H member going with Greeley Co. to Camp Crockett, Rye, Colorado. She always remembered me as an adult even though our paths didn't cross very often. What a great role model for all to emulate as we interact with all age groups.

I loved this woman so much! She was my favorite substitute teacher! She was always so kind, nurturing, compassionate, & her smile always made my day wherever I saw her! She had an energy about her that is so rare, she truly had a heart of gold! She loved children and was a wonderful teacher, one of the best without a doubt! She glowed like a woman with a deep relationship with the Lord would! She will be missed by many & will always hold a special place in my heart! I truly treasure my memory of her and look forward to seeing her sweet smile on the Kingdom of Heaven! My heart goes out to the family, wonderful people! She sure left an incredible legacy! I'm thankful for her influence & the kindness she shared! Her eyes even smiled! I was a grade behind her grand daughter, Leslie! I looked up to her and she always helped me feel included! She lived a long, fulfilling life! I enjoyed reading her life story! Prayers of comfort for everyone in the community and her family!

When I first got the job as an Extension Agent in Greeley County, I don't know how many times I got asked "Have you met Ocie yet?" In Manhattan, in area offices, and of course in Greeley County, Ocie was the gold standard in what a County Extension Agent was supposed to be. When I met and got to know her, I actually think she was under-rated.
I loved to sneak out of the office on the days Ocie and Ginger had their 4-H Foods lessons, and just go to watch Ocie with the kids. She was so, so good with them. She could let the kids have some fun, yet keep things a learning process the whole time. She was absolutely amazing in these moments. She also had a great way of being excited with you about whatever you were excited about. She made you feel great about whatever you were doing.
I have this bucket list of people, there are only 5 people that I have on it. This list is people that I thought were almost perfect, with big, caring hearts. Ocie is one of those 5. I feel very lucky that I got to know her, and learn from her. I know her family will miss her dearly, but I'm sure you also know she is in a better place now. God be with you all during this time.
