Jacob and I used to work together. My desk was towards the back of the lab and a bit isolated from the rest of the group. We would hang out for awhile on most days, and let me tell you, the amount of laugh until we cried conversations we had were ridiculous. People would walk into the area and see us both laughing hysterically often holding our sides. There were so many running and inside jokes each week, it was hard to keep track. We’d walk by each other in the hallway both trying to contain our laughter knowing one of us was going to reference an earlier conversation. Those were such good times.
He had this ability to “bring the fun.” I don’t know how else to describe it. That coupled with the giant grin on his face most of the time was part of it I think. There would be days when a group of people sharing a lab bench were in bad moods. Jacob would come around and simply say “What’s up, guys?” with a smile on his face, and well, the fun began. The conversations would just keep building and building into a new level of hilarity with everyone contributing and now in a better mood.
He was a fun guy to be around. Glad we had some time.

Jacob was one of those people that you couldn't help smiling when you saw. I had the privilege of working with Jacob for a long time. He made everyday better. His laugh was so contagious! It came from the bottom of his belly and just filled the room. He has touched so many lives. I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time.

Jacob was an amazing, wonderful, loving person. I loved his laugh. His laugh was enough to make your whole day bright. And his hugs. I could always count on a hug. Sometimes he would lift me up in a huge bear hug just to make me smile if I was feeling down. And if he was down I could count on him letting me hug him to make sure he knew I cared. Sometimes people pass through you life with no impact. Jacob wasn't one of those people, he has a permanent place in my heart and memories. He made everyday better and my heart is broken for his loss. I know he is at peace now.
I hope his family is at peace also.
